The Portland Headlight

The Portland Head Light of Cape Elizabeth, Maine is a sight to behold. Sitting at the entrance to Portland Harbor this lighthouse looks out over Casco Bay and greets any freight ships passing by. This cliff-hugging light bringer is the oldest lighthouse in Maine and the only one in Cape Elizabeth.

The lighthouse is adjacent to Fort Williams Parks which boasts many trails and recreational activities and the Portland Head Light itself contains its own museum. The museum for the Portland Head Lighthouse boasts many interactive and informative elements and is a fun stop off for kids and history buffs alike.

The view from atop this lighthouse is simply stunning and if you’re in the area it would be a shame to miss out on such a beautiful old structure. This lighthouse is arguably the most beautiful lighthouse in Maine as well potentially one of the most beautiful in the world.
